Crown Him

Do you carry crowns you weren’t meant to own? Do you try to navigate life alone?

Sovereignty belongs only to Our Maker. And yet we still try to rule.

That temptation to disbelieve, He’s able and capable beyond the galaxy,

to think we must fight alone, to avenge, to stand up for our rights,

refusing to forgive, escaping the uncomfortable, that desire to cling to temporary solutions…

We still don’t want to let go! But we must! It’s time to surrender and surrender again, each and every day.

Every crown we own!

Crown Him with ALL the crowns.

They are His to entrust,

His to own. He’s King

And we can trust Him.

“Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne.
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless king
through all eternity.

Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed o’er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save;
his glories now we sing
who died and rose on high,
who died eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.”

Matthew Bridges (1851)
